18,2% Plato.

Clear red-brown beer, thick off-white head. Smells malty with a hit of caramel. Flavour has the same qualities. Hefty malt profile, lots of caramel, a bit of dried fruit. Nice but could do with a bit more heft, a little more body. Still, it's dangerously drinkable for 7.6%.

bottle dark amber, brown head. boozy aroma of dark dried fruits, sweet nuts, sort of a vienna like aroma, but stronger and more tilted towards dark dried fruits. sometimes bocks and doublebocks have roasted notes, this one has not. it's round and sweet. pretty nice aroma. flavor is nutty, sweet nutty, dark dried fruits, nutty bitter malty aftertaste, tastes like a strong vienna, nearly no roasted maltiness about it, it's more like a belgian quad with dark dried fruits - of course without the wild yeasty notes. If you feel like a sweet strong beer this might even be an alternative to a barley wine.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a very deep chestnut brown colour with a large thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, fruit cake, toasty brown bread and a little brown sugar. Taste is more of all the same notes described in the aroma with an added rich leathery note on the finish. Medium to full body, low carbonation and fairly smooth mouthfeel. Slightly above average Doppelbock. Good but not great.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours clear deep / dark brown with a dissipating khaki head. The aroma is rich malty action, brown bread, toothy malts, malt loaf, dried fruits, fruit cake, earth, wood and a touch of burnt caramel. The taste is initially firmly dry, then moves to bitter - sweet, toothy, chewy malt, wood, earthy, toasted malt, slightly charred, brown bread, bruised bananas, raisin, sultana, fruit, caramel, kick of booze and a nip of spice with a dry, slightly burnt fruit cake finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Well rounded and drinks far too easy.

500ml bottle As part of a delivery from Sophie's Beer Store and drunk at home. Mahogany broen clear with a ring of beige head. Resinous malt, hazelnut, toffee aroma. Tastes sweet with just a little hoppy bitterness on the middle of the tongue at the finish. Notes of stone fruit in the aroma. Heavy carbonation, medium body. A decent but not a top doppelbock.

Rubinbrun vätska med kaffegräddefärgat skum. Sädig doft och lite mörk kaka. Kakigheten återkommer i smaken. Stor maltkropp men något beige matchning av beska.
