18,2% Plato.

Dark brown, almost black. Little light brown head. Aroma: dark chocolate, raisins, some slight smoke. Nice bitterness, tiny sweetness and a bit sourness from the carbonation. Long aftertaste. Overall decent.

50 cl bottle. Dunkel aspect, compact beige head, dunkler smell. Burnt malts and caramel, brown sugar and woody notes basement aromas. Balanced taste, slightly bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture, decent finish. Smooth finish, quite raw overall but faithful on the style.

Color coca cola, mas oscura. Bonita espuma de tres dedos, muy cremosa y ocre, manchada marrón. Aroma marcado. Regaliz, sirope. Excelente en boca, muy cremosa, muy agradable. Predominio dulce, caramelo, garrapiñados. Final más amargo. Mejor para postre, o como copa. Pero buena en cualquier caso. Le falta complejidad para la excelencia.

0,5 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, best before 31/1/2016. Clear, dark amber with a thin, foamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Pleasant aroma of cane sugar, molasses, raisins and prunes. Very sweet taste of molasses, cane sugar, raisins and prunes with hints of coffee. Short, just slightly bitter and gently alcoholic finish. Full body, oily, chewy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice sipper, very sweet but not aggressively.

500 ml bottle, one year old.
Dark copper/brown body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, beige head.
Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, bread, smoke.
Taste is quite sweet, but interesing, with caramel, dried fruits, berries, tea, some bread, some hops.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes sweet malty, a bit sticky, but also a bit roasty and hoppy.
Nice one. A bit too sweet for my liking, but still with a multifarious taste, that has some notes you wouldn’t expect. Overall nothing outstanding, but a very good, recognisable Doppelbock.

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Clear ruby body with a beige head that fades. Low carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of raisin, Marmite, rust and treacle. Flavour of toffee, salted nuts and black pepper. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Rich and boozy.

Classic Doppelbock with thin head and dark brown colour. Caramel malts, candi sugar, toasted accent ensuring a gentle bitter finish, soft and smooth mouthfeel. Good example of its style but not quite the quality of Ayinger Celebrator or Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel.
