Hallowed is a Belgian inspired beer that’s brewed in England. It is also one of the first beers to be brewed by Robinsons Brewery that uses Belgian yeast. Robinsons haven’t changed the yeast used in their beers since 1942, which makes Hallowed even more special.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/28/2017. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, red apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, spicy rye, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, red apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, spicy rye, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast/rye spiciness and herbal/floral/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruits, pear, red apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, banana, bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, spicy rye, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an excellent Belgian dark ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Well rounded Belgian yeast complexity, nicely rich malt balance, and nice noble hop presence. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Up the Irons! Bottle. Pours a clear chestnut color with a small white head. A big fruity yeasty nose. Sweet bready base, fruitycake, yeasty, a bit of toffee. Quite smooth. Spices, nutmeg. Very nice.

Aus der Flasche im 2017-11 getrunken. Diese dunkle Ale ist eine Hybrid zwischen einem Belgischen Abbey Tripel und ein englischen ESB. Die Hopfennote ist deutlich aber irgendwie passend. Ein interessantes Ale und gefällt mir besser als der einfache Trooper.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Clear amber-copper coloured body, clingy lacing from a lasting off-white head. Nice smell of prunes, caramel, and Belgian yeast strain. Dried fruity flavours together with caramel and earth with distant notes of Belgian yeast. Smooth bittersweet tail. Rounded mouth feel. Pleasant, looking forward to the cask version. Btw, Hallowed Be Thy Name from the early 80s is one of the greatest Iron Maiden tunes, played when drinking this beer. (Celebration time, Tromsø 03.11.2017).

Pours reddish brown from the bottle. A light tan head fizzes quickly away. Aroma has a touch of caramel, spice, cleaning agent. Taste is mildly sweet, turning sweeter with mild candy hints at the finish. Body stays fairly light with lots of evident carbonation. A sort of bastardized cross between English & British strong ales that fails to be very interesting.

Pour is a brown with some red-ish highlights and a large white head. Aroma is a decent plum and toffee. Flavor is more dark fruit, some sour green apple and some rye malt spice. Not many Belgian things going on here but as a English strong ale this is fine.
