Hallowed is a Belgian inspired beer that’s brewed in England. It is also one of the first beers to be brewed by Robinsons Brewery that uses Belgian yeast. Robinsons haven’t changed the yeast used in their beers since 1942, which makes Hallowed even more special.

Pour is a brown with some red-ish highlights and a large white head. Aroma is a decent plum and toffee. Flavor is more dark fruit, some sour green apple and some rye malt spice. Not many Belgian things going on here but as a English strong ale this is fine.

Bottle at home, 07/10/17. Rich chestnut brown with a good sized beige cap that dissipates in time. Nose is biscuit, toffee, light spice, fruit rinds. Taste comprises yeast esters, light candied fruit peel, caramel, clove, biscuit, dates, dried fruits. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, drying close. Middle of the road Belgian number.

Clear red brown colour. Aroma and flavour have some sweet malts and lots of red fruit sugars. Nice dry finish.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Clear copper colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and sourish malts. The flavour is better, but definitely more English than Belgian. Toffee and caramel notes. Moderate hops.

Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 18.09.17. Dark golden. Off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and harsh caramel. Taste of harsh caramel, harsh malt and overripe lemons. Appropriately metallic mouthfeel.
