Bottle at Ravintola Kirjakauppa. Clear nut brown color, small steady off-white head. Nutty caramelly aroma. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Nutty, caramellly, even a bit salty. Close to Fullers Esb. Perharps a bit less hoppy.

Bottle. Reddish-brown with next to no head. Hopped with a sweetness and a touch sticky, leading to a small bitterness.

Cask @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours mahogany brown, boasts some strong malts with slight alcohol hint alongside some citrus notes and a bitter finish. Nothing mindblowing.

Bottle. Pours clear copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and flowers. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with subtle malty and fruity touches. Bitter aftertaste. OK. Not watery, which is good for the style. Not bad.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours chestnut brwon with a thin off-white head, which doesn’t hang around. Aromas of toffee malt, light metallic notes, some citrus hops. Taste brings more hoppiness, at the orange end of things. Medium body, creamy texture, little sticky at the end. Good.

Cask at Lyric, Soho. It pours deep amber-brown with a medium beige head. The nose is wood, caramel, earth, dirt, varnish and dried fruit. The taste is caramel, wood, leather, varnish, leaf, peppery, toast and decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Good balance. Robust. A nice example of the style.

Clear amber beer, tidy off white head. Crispy palate, minerals. Fair amount of malt with a whisper of toffee. Malt cream. Suppressed citrus provides a modicum of balance but this a malt led beer. It’s the freshness and creamy malt that wins the day!
