Hazy orange color, huge off-white head. Birch wood smokey aroma with grassy hoppy notes. Light-bodied. Lingering smokeyness, vegetables, grassy hoppyness. Finish is lightly bitter and tarry. Active carbonation. Simple beer with good smokeyness.

Bottle (O’Connor’s, Uppsala) - Golden with a haze and a very foamy head. Smoky aroma with notes of ham, birch and fruit. Hops, smoked malt and apricot features in the light, yet fairly deep taste.

Pours light orange with a massive long-lasting foamy head. Light aroma of caramel, earthy notes and hints of smoke. Taste is malty with earthy notes and hints of smoke. Finish is quite harshly bitter and light bodied. Overall quite unbalanced.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 12 Jun 2011, 20120104) The beer poured golden and a bit hazy. Its head was large, long lasting and white - and the foaming made the beer difficult to pour. Aroma had smoke, smoked ham and grassy hops. Palate was medium bodied with quite high carbonation. Flavours were smoke, grilled sausage, smoked ham, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky and bitter. Pretty good smoked with such a low ABV.

330ml bottle. Clear dark yellow with a bulky white head. First sip is hop-dominated, then the smoke comes in, hop predominates again in the end. Unfortunately the dominating taste lacks a descant in each case. A bit light overall.

Milder aber fester Rauchantrunk mit übergeordneter Bitterkeit. Diese ist auch im weiteren Verlauf das stärkste Aroma, die durch die Bitterkeit harsch wirkende Rauchigkeit bleibt konstant. Der aromatische Teil des Hopfens wird im Hintergrund breiter. Die Bitterkeit wird dann runder, das Bier dadurch süffiger. Nettes Bier, das mir aber am Anfang zu ruppig ist. 5/9/7/9/9/9

Slightly cloudy, golden beer with a huge and blond head. Aroma is nice and succesfull, smoke, malts, ham, slightly musty. Taste is quite similar than aroma, lots of smoke, pure maltyness, enough of bitterness, grass, a hint of tar liquirice, quite dry taste. Surprisingly full bodied, not too much of carbonation. Positive surprise, pure and dry smokeyness plays the main role and other nuancees are balanced with smoke. Quite similar than Vakka-Suomen Jouluolut 2011.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color color with a white head. Has a fruity malty weak smoky aroma with hoppy hins. Fruity malty smoky flavor with hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty caramel finish with smoky hints in the aftertaste and some hoppy hints.
