Dark Side is an impressive and seriously smooth stout, brewed with flair and diligence using a blend of dark roasted malts and an old-fashioned (and rather famous) English hop called Fuggles. Dark Side contains wheat and barley malt.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 17.03.2012
Tasted in vertical with Bath Dark Side, this was worse
Looks a lot like cola drink with big-bubbled and disappearing head. Slightly sour aroma has toffee, goldings-like hops, coffee, some roastiness. Palate is too thin and a bit watery. Flavour is rather light with coffee, harsh roastiness and hints of toffee with goldings. Unlike Dark Side, this was too watery and light.

Tasted in vertical with Bath Dark Hare, this was better
Dark ruby red colour with disappearing, big-bubbled head. Aroma is stale, grainy and floury with some toffee, goldings and coffee. Smooth and creamy palate. Flavour has coffee, roastiness, goldings-like toffee and some smoke. Unlike Dark Hare, this was smooth and rather rich for a 4% ABV beer.

Medium beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark red at edges. Roasty grainy prunes aroma with soy sauce notes. Dry-sweetish earthy chocolatey taste is very mild. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry roasty mineraly spicy aftertaste with earthy notes. Delicate and rather elegant. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle from BeerMerchants.)

Bottled 500ml (K-Isolinna, BB 05/2012)
Dark opaque brown color, mostly vanishing brown head, looks a bit like Coca Cola. Aroma of oat flakes, chocolate and caramel. Low carbonation, decent body for this ABV although slightly watery. Coffee, toasted malts, slightly acidic although wheat softens the palate. Decent English-style stout, probably same beer as Dark Hare.
Earlier Rating: 4/20/2008 Total Score: 3.4

Opaque black color, small off-white head. Aroma has dark chocolate and coffee, hints of milk. Suprisingly full-bodied for 4 % beer. Lots of dark color malts. Dark toasted coffeish flavor with ashy notes. Toasted aftertaste. If I remember correctly, Carlow OโHaras Celtic Stout was a bit similar. This is not a world class stout, but wellmade brew.

Bottle from ASDA. Dark brown in colour with a tight, tan head. Sweet, caramel, milk chocolate and camp coffee aroma. Flavour was very sweet, with toffee, weak coffee and ash, with some dryish coffee grinds in the finish. Not for me.

Bottle. Near black with a slight hint of red and minimal head. The aroma was primarily roasty with some dark chocolate. The flavour was again largely roasted, almost charred, with an almost savoury finish. Mouth feel was smooth with a slight oiliness. Not bad.

Very dark brown beer - just about clear. No real head. Nice dark ale - smooth, subtle toasty malt, subtle chocolate. A distinct nutty flavour and a little porterish tang. Not bitter or dry. Low carbonation but goes down easy.

Keg, Salamander. No head. Dark brown. Slightly liquoricey dark malt aroma. Liquoricey taste with milk chocolate and light toffeeish accents. A nice mild. Would benefit from being on cask.
