Amber beer with a thick frothy head and a light nutty aroma with a touch of caramel. Flavour is nutty as well with a tangy fruit edge. Finish is a touch sickly-sweet but it’s decent enough.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark copper with a slight white head. Aroma is malt with a hint of floral/fruity hop. Med + body. Flavor is slightly roasted malt with a fair amount of fruity/spicy hop. Decently bitter. Works for me. Oh to be in England!

Pretty boring beer. Some malt, but doesn’t showcase barley well like the best of its style. Pours clear maroon without much head or lacing. Finishes malty, very lightly bitter. Low carbonation. Tap at Churchkey.

Deep copper coloured with the faintest of heads around the glass edge. Has a fine hoppy maltiness in a medium-full body.

500ml can. Copper amber colour, foamy tan head leaving lots of lacing and malty aroma. Taste is fruity malt, caramel, with a smooth bitterness. OK bitter.

Bitter wytrawny i gorzki. Brązowy kolor, dość spora i mocna piana jak na piwo tego gatunku, ładnie się prezentuje w pintowej szklance. Małe nagazowanie, zresztą co jest oczywiste dla bittera.

Sept 2006 I wrote this on BA: I prefer the cask product to the bottled variey, but have not seen any since I became a BA, so the 500 ml bottle will have to do for now. Clear, but dark copper in colour with a thick cream/off white foaming head, the beer settled quickly into the pint glass. No strong aroma, a bit of fruit and malt maybe. Tastes like a good British Bitter should, not sure it is a Pale Ale, as the beer is styled according to this site. Mouthfeel is full bodied and pleasant, a very nice beer from start to finish, still prefer the cask version, looked after correctly though.

Bottle. Clear copper with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, pears, some flowers. Sweet with caramel and fruit, drying and mildly spicy finish with lingering fruit. A bit fizzy but not watery.

Bottle from Tesco, Inverness.
Appearance - Dark golden amber, thick rocky white head with reasonable lacing.
Aroma - Not much on the nose but some spicy hops, slight pepper, hint of yeast.
Taste - Light spicy, earthy hop, caramel malt, bit of roasted malt, hint of yeast, some fruitiness. OK.
Palate - Finish is a light, earthy bitterness with a hint of metal. Low carb.
Overall - OK. Not bad but nothing special.
