473ml can. Pours a clear dark brown with red hue and a small, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, oak and faint bourbon. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, butterscotch, vanilla, light oak and faint bourbon in a dry, boozy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Probably should have aged this longer. The oak and bourbon notes were too subtle. A little thin for the style also. Good but not great.

Can from Denman LRS, Vancouver
Dark brown colour, short of being black, small beige head. Strong aroma of dark bread. Moderately sweet, but the body is thinner than other beers in the category; chocolate, bread, very little roast, and a touch of vanilla in the finish is the only suggestion of bourbon.
Pretty good.

16oz @ Alex's. Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: roasted malts, some grassy notes, no bourbon presence. Taste: along the same lines, some ash notes. Overall: another example of something that pretends to be a barrel aged, but in fact, it does not smell/taste like that at all. It's just pretty good IS.

Pours with okay beige foam and a very dark brownish black body. The aroma is tiramisu cake, sweet coffee, sweet chocolate. Flavour is a decent dry mix of sweet coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is a little thin for something like this and honestly I can't detect any bourbon barrel character whatsoever. It's like a spectrum where the bourbon barrels can dominate or they can just not show up at all for the party - this one's the latter. Otherwise it's still very drinkable and the alcohol is very well hidden.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out a decent bourbon character, albeit somewhat rough, with moderate roast. Flavour is quite bourbon-dominate, but again quite rough, with moderate roast and little depth. It's certainly pleasant, but it's not elegant, nor overly integrated. Decent.
