Forager is our seasonal Belgian saison-styled ale, infused seasonally with Mayne Island–foraged ingredients such as grand fir tips, blackberries, salal berries, stinging nettles, dandelion & burdock, rose hips, rose petals, just to name a few… We have even created our own wild-fermented sour versions using locally collected honeysuckle flowers and repitching the yeast to create crab apple sour saisons…

Smells of soft grain, a bit of hops. Good cloudy yellow body and decent head. Nice spicy grains for flavour though little else, maybe some citrus. Full enough on the mouth. Adequate.

330mL bottle at The Acorn, pours a cloudy dark amber golden with a small white head. Aroma has all sorts of strange earthy notes and spiciness, with fir, pine needles and who knows what else. Flavour brings out the saison yeast upfront, with a crazy melange of spices that somehow works pretty cohesively. This isn't really my thing, but I have to admit it's executed decently.

Bottle. Hazy, light amber with a thin head. The aroma is lightly yeasty. It’s got a bit of perfumey stuff, dry and hoppy, but not a ton of complexity or for that matter point of interest.
