Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is roasted malt, sweet butter caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, liquorice bitter with a dry roasty sweet malt, liqourice, charcoal, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Served way too cold and didn’t taste great, but the profile changed completely as the beer warmed and the flavours came out.

Gravity at Steel City Beer Festival in October 2016. Murky brown body, small off white to beige head. Nose is burnt coffee, liquorice, dark bitter chocolate. Taste has a dark cake fruit thing going on, more chocolate, bitter-sweet and a bit sour.

On tap @ Thornbridge ’s Hertogenbosch. Pitch black with a brown head. Massive coffee aroma and dark chocolate. Heavy bitter taste. The oats give it a hearty mouthfeel and taste. Fantastic breakfast stout.

Black with thin creamy head. Extremely intense aroma of strong, roasted coffee. Flavour is similar but slightly less intense. Smooth and rich. Nice bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Vultures Lane. Buttery toast, some nuts, plums, figs. Quite creamy up front with a bitter fruity finish. Little thin and a bit too buttery. Nice enough though.

Cask handpump at The Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax, Friday 9th December 2016 Pours almost black with a creamy light beige head, almost Guinness like in appearance. Wow there is lots and lots of coffee in here, and a good steady warmth from the abv. It’s smooth, creamy and with a good cocoa dash but the roasted coffee is what I return to time and time again.
