"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey’s Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor’s Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Draught at St Michael, Oulu. Colour is dark amber with creamy white head. Aromas and flavours are toffee and sweet malts. Quite watery but still one of my "old time favorites".

Looks great, tastes lousy. The nitro can did its job and it poured with a creamy head, however, that’s about all this beer has to offer. Aroma is wet paper. Taste is water with a caramel candy diluted in it. Very, very disappointing. Doesn’t taste bad, just doesn’t taste like anything at all.

Amber colour with a creamy white head. Light hoppy aroma with some sweet malt. Creamy texture with a mild sweetness. Mild toffee and caramel flavour, and a bit flat.

Can at football - awful tasting mistake with watery palate, Not good and easily forgettable after an afternoon of cracking beers.

Ciekawie i nietypowo wyglądające piwo w szkalnie. Wytwarza się efekt Smooth i pozostaje kremowa piana, która się utrzymuje do końca podczas picia. W smaku lekkie i wytrawne, bez gazu i bąbelków, wyrażnie gorzkie piwo

Has changed a bit recently, but the smooth light bitter character still remains.

I used to drink it many years ago, when I traveled to London. And now somebody brought me a can. Golden color with huge white head. Aroma of grain, grass, caramel, malt. Taste, almost watery, hints of sweet malt, grain, herbal notes. Very light bitterness in finish.

Can, 3.8%ABV. Golden amber with a thick cream head. Aroma of caramel and grass, some flowers. Sweet caramel, with some tea. Enough bitterness to maintain vague interest.
