Keg at the Old Red Cow, Smithfield. Light copper with a little bit of head and a lot of carbonation. Light aroma of malt and grass with a bit of soft citrus. Sweet taste where the chewy German malts really shine through. There is a fair bit of sharpness in the bitter finish and aftertaste. Blood orange in the finish. A nice take on a style that can be hard to love.

Great cereal malt. Strong Munchen character. Clean. Great osmosis. Citrus. Super soft. Oranges and mangoes.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours clear orange-gold with a creamy off-white head. Nice toasted cereal nose, light bread, biscuits, caramel. Light-medium sweet with soft bitter grain husk, leaves, more bread, cereal, toasted hay. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish with more toasted cereal, some orange, citrusy hops, bread. A bit happier than a traditional take on the style. An excellent ’modern day’ festbier.

Keg at the brewery. Clear bight golden coloured pour with a thin white head. Aroma is grainy cereal, spicy noble hop, grain store, slightly nutty. Flavour is composed of grainy cereal, spicy hop, firm hop bitterness. Palate is semi sweet, higjihs carbonation and a nice crisp finish. Good.
