Dark jet black coal color with a dense beige head. Good intensity in the aroma. Lots of oak. Medium body and a fine carbonation level. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Oak o hoi also in the flavor. Also some toffee and raost. This beer is way to thin to balance that powerful oak flavor. Need 5 or 6% more.

500ml bottle at Ale House, Chelmsford, kindly shared by Cunningham. Filmy layer leaving spotty lacing down the glass. Coal black in body colour. Mid-sweet oaky nose, some impact of chocolate. Oak up front to the flavour profile joined by chocolate and caramel nose. Nicely roasted finish. Medium bodied. Likable, just a bit too much oak. (17.02.2017).

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Cask. The straight oak chip version. Opaque dark brown beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry. modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, but there is a little bitterish dark chocolate. Light woody oak, no vanilla imparted. Touch of berry fruits. Dry bitterish finish. Pretty drinkable.
