Superb berry aroma, although this is less stated in its taste, but is still worthwhile. Has a thick creamy head and very dark body.

Cask @ Diggers, Edinburgh 170712
Dark brown, tan head, good lacing
Aroma of blackberry sweet jam, soft dark malts, mellow roast
Taste of blackberry jam, dark caramel malts, soft roast, mellow, very fruity jammy, maybe too jammy,
Palate - soft carb, medium body, sweet. Finish of soft roasted and more sweet jammy fruits
Overall - Good fruity porter initially, but maybe a bit one-dimensional and too jammy - still a nice brew though

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Quite much pitch black colour, not too much of a head. Aroma is blackberries and some mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is blackberries as well as slightly roasted malts and some toffee as well. The blackberries hides most of the other things in the beer rather bigtime.

Cask at Pig’s Ear beer festival 2011. A dark red/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Lovely blackberry aroma. Tastes of blackberries, slightly sour, slightly sweet, dry, rich and delicious. Really liked this one, more please!

JDW Fest. Clear dark brown beer, pale tan bubbly head. Light semi dry palate. Delicious fresh blackberry cuts through some mild dark malt. Really nice fruit. Semi dry finish. Some minerals. Nice.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Black with a thin beige head. Sumptuous chocolate and fruit aroma. Fresh blackberries very evident at first before blackberry leaf and nettle takes over, leading to a particularly dry finish. A little thin and not as good at the end as at the start, but still enjoyable and unusual.

Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Deep ruby red in colour with a compact oatmeal head; aroma of fresh blackberries; sweet blackberry flavours to start then switching to coffee and deeply roasted malts; then a dry fruity finish. A pretty good fruit porter, although I prefer damson or blackcurrant.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 30/03/2011. Almost back with a slight tan head. Blackcurrant fruit aroma with a touch of roasted malts. Blackcurrants in the flavour were too sweet and dominated everything else. A third of a pint was quite enough.

Cask handpull at Spoons Victoria Station. Very dark brown colour with lasting beige. Oh dear this tastes of Ribena. Not good in any way shape ir form. Very thin in mouth. Some burnt blackberry notes on finish. Shame as I like this brewery but very thin stuff.
