Sampled @ GBBF. Opaque dark brown to black color color with a red glare coming through, small off-white head. Aroma is very very fruity, lots of blackberry and red currant in there. Taste is soft and round, lightly malts, very fruity again with blackberries and a touch of red fruit, slightly sweet and a touch of dark malts. Well done, like it.

Cask at The White Swan, Solihull. Poured a very dark mahogany with a reddish hue and a thick tan head. The aroma was fruity and of course dominated by those blackberries! The flavour is is rich, and earthy, with dark chocolate and lots of blackberry on the palate. It’s medium bitter and the fruit does not dominate. This is a very unusual and tasty ale. I’m surprised the ratings are not better.

Cask at the Lawrence Sheriff, Rugby, 17/04/13. Light black with a thin tan head formed of small bubbles. Nose is dark malt, strawberry liqourice, berry fruits, sugars, bubblegum. Taste is blackberry forward, light roast malt, molasses, liqourice, artificial sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweetish finish with lingering berry fruit. Ok - a little OTT on the blackberry front, akin to dumping a large amount of sweet blackberry cordial into the beer, the balance good have been better with more subtle fruit flavours.

Cask (gravity) @ 28th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2011, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandClear dark brown color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sweet malt, sweet artificial blackberry. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, artificial blackberry, pepperry notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. IMO very artificial - doesn’t quite work for me ;O( [20111207]
