Cask at London & North Western, Birmingham (at 4.3%). Pours almost black with medium sized foamy tan head and good lacing. There’s floral hops and blackberries in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but with a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has dark fruits, roasted malts with hints of hops, chocolate and coffee coming later. This is nice – pleasantly drinkable.

Lovely looking deep dark brown, near black with a creamy tan head and a mellow aroma of dark fruits and roasted malt. Velvety smooth and creamy, slightly tart berry fruit, coffee and sweet roasted malt nicely balanced, finishes dry and a little bitter.

Ty Grumbo. Aroma and flavor are roasty, malty, chocolate-y with some berry notes. The berries feel bit extracty or tea like, but nowhere near omnipollo level. Finish has some nice dry bitterness with blackberry leaves. Ok. 3.4

20/2/2020. Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer & Cider Festival 2020. Pours very dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, blackberries, roasted malt, toffee and dark fruits. Light to moderate sweetness and quite heavy roasted bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Wasn’t expecting this to be quite so bitter. Decent though.

Half-pint, cask ale at Stanford Arms in Lowestoft. Patchy beige head, fair lacing, a deep dark reddish shade to a black body. Blackberry nose, mid-sweet, promising. Rather rich taste of blackberries and grainy chocolate. Mid-sweet malt-berry tail. Likable. (06.07.2019).
