Bottle from the brewery, shared by Nelson on 7/17/16.
Dark chocolate-dark mahogany body is topped by a medium-sized, tan head showing moderate retention. Clarity is medium to high.
Straightforward roasty, chocolatey coffee notes in the nose are joined by light fudge, vanilla and char. Some "hardness" on the end with a very high attenuation, it would seem, based on the nose. No alcohol or flaw.
Coffee and moderate graininess in the mouth with a fair bit of wateriness. Light fudge notes add some needed sweetness as dark chocolate and prune linger on the finish, alongside vanilla and more coffee. Pretty mild interpretation, which is a good morning drinker but it needs just a touch more oomph overall, especially as far as the texture is concerned. Very dry with low carbonation, loose at points.
