This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to our brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, it’s Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

29/6/2018. Draft at Yard House at The Linq, Laz Vegas. Pours hazy pale gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of orange, citrus, malt, flowers and light herb. Medium sweetness with moderate bitterness with touch of tartness. Moderate body, oily texture, average carbonation with slightly tingling mouthfeel. Refreshing, pretty good.

(can, 35.5cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and short frothy head. Mildly yeasty and wheaty aroma with notes of oranges, as well as blossom-like floral and coriander-spicy accents. Mildly bitter-tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly grainy wheaty taste with basic fruity notes of oranges, lime, getting spicier and yeastier towards the moderately bitter tart finish with present notes of coriander. Nice but not a must. 07.V.18

Hazy, light amber, this has a fair bit of orange. Ok, but the orange doesn't actually help this any.

Tap at Sidedoor. Hazy translucent golden orange body. Thin oily head. I tend to like my Wits with more of an oaky, vanilla feel. This is a decent, clean, enjoyable example of a more spice forward example. The coriander might be the most dominant flavor, balanced by the smooth malt tones. The honey tones start coming through after a few sips. Well made but more of a spiced honey golden ale than a Wit.

Can. A- Coriander, spice, wheat. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Strong coriander, pepper, spices, wheat. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- There was a day when I was head over heels for wits. That day has long passed but I can still appreciate them. At first I was under the assumption this was an orange forward wit reading the name. Had I paid more attention, I would’ve noticed it’s just the name and not orange forward. In fact, I didn’t get much orange peel at all. Pretty much a standard wit by all means. Not bad not great, just decent.

Not bad for what it is. Aroma and flavor are both predominately orange, with a cereal grain malt backing. Honey is more pronounced in the taste than the aroma. Moderately clear orange-gold with a full white head that falls quickly and leaves a collar of tiny bubbles. A bit of a harshness on the back half of the palate.
