Mikkel and Menno is the result of a collaboration between Denmarks best brewery Mikkeller, and Hollands best brewery De Molen. This beer is a weizenbock, it has been brewed at De Molen in the Netherlands and Mikkel contributed to the recipe with a lot of American hops.

Bottled on 30 July 2009 (batch 01.01) thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with an off-white head that stays over a murky brown body. Aroma is really floral, perfume, flowers, gardenias, apple, rosewater, caramel. Taste is fruity, floral, caramel, wheat and citrus. Lively bubbles.

Bottle No. 800 (out of a batch of 992), brewed 4th Nov. 2009. Courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Front label says ABV is 7.2%, rear label says it is 7.5%. OG 1065, FG 1013. Bittering hop: Galena, late hops: Chinook, Simcoe, Cascade and Amarillo, dry hopping: Saaz and Cascade. 53,6 EBU. Recommended serving temperature is 10 degrees C. Hazy deep orange colour, huge off-white head. Very nice aroma of fruity / citrussy, floral and piney hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dry flavour, dominated by resinous American hops. Decent beer, but nothing wheaty about it.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar. Apricot aroma. In a blind tasting I would have guessed that this was an American strong ale since it is very heavy and hoppy. Medium smoothness.

Bottle at Patricks. Hazy orange body with a small off-wiite head. Citrusy, piney and sugary sweet aroma. The flavor is much the same, definately too sweet and banana-lacking for a weizenbock, but still quite tasteful. Full body, nice carbonation. Long finish with good bitterness. Nice, but not much like a weizenbock. 100515

bottle, danke Bierkoning! Hazy amber-golden colour, very large off-white head. Hoppy nose. Solid malty background with hints of caramel. Fruity/citrusy hops dominate the beer, resulting in a bitter-sweet and fruity character. More like an IPA than a Weizenbock.

Bottle @ Mikkeller. Pours orange with a small off white head. Aprictos and deep dark chocolate in the aroma. Kind of rough taste. Dark malts at first, the hops are there in the end. This tastes more like an american strong ale really. I miss the smoothness and special malt character of a german weizenbock.

12oz bottle at the DC local tasting. Pours a translucent copper amber with a cloudy, beige head. Nice hoppy aroma, C hops, lemons, grapefruits. Flavor is weak though compared to the nose, light caramel, light grapefruit. Watery finish. Just doesnβt deliver.

(bottle, 33cl, # 363) Cloudy, dark amber colour with a big and dense, slightly beige foamy head. Aromatic hoppy aroma with fruity (lemon, pine-apples) and piney notes, accompanied by light wheaty and a herbal, nettle-like touch. Bitter-sweet flavour, surprisingly light-weighted with a lively carbonation. Aroma hops upfront with a yeasty, moderately wheaty and cara-malty taste; pretty dry wheaty and fruity finish with an abrupt and sharp bitterness. Aromatic brew with flaws at the end. 09.IV.10

Bottle from pre-ZBF shop. Hazy yellow, white head, moderate lacing. Aroma of citrus and light spice. Some tart fruit and decent bitterness. Lots of competing flavors. Decent enough.

Very good light-beige head leaving textbook lace over hazy deep-red magenta beer. End of bottle some UFOβs. C-hops jumping out of the glass, fruity esters with mango, raspberry, lytchee, unripe strawberry. Rather harsh bitterness, then going over in tart fruit, but nowhere really sour. Retronasal more hopbitterness. Band-aid warming up. Medium bodied, slick, dry-tart(ish), metallic tang. Quite nice combination - wonder what Menno added. Iβm digging wheat, but, Weizenbock???
