Armada Ale was one of the first new 'Golden Ales' that emerged in the 1980s. It has a pronounced yet balanced hop character, derived from Fuggle and Golding hops. Originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum, it quickly established itself as a piece of living history. Robust, refreshing and still a port of call in any beer-drinker's voyage of discovery.

Cask draft at the Royal Oak. Gentle amber pour, head dissipates quickly. Malty character throughout, taste adds a bit of caramel and some sweetness. Noticeably dry, but nice lingering brown bread flavors.

Royal Oak, Borough. Zero aroma. Bright amber. Dregs of a white head. Light to medium bitter. More so in the long finish. Light and airy mouthfeel. Not bad, just not particularly interesting.

Cask at The Lord Nelson, Brighton. Dark amber color, small white head. Sweetish berries, malts in the aroma. Light-bodied. Caramel, toasted sugar and light earthy hops in the flavor. Watery finish. Odd combination.

Bouteille 50cl, merci Pierre T. BB 06/2016.
