Armada Ale was one of the first new 'Golden Ales' that emerged in the 1980s. It has a pronounced yet balanced hop character, derived from Fuggle and Golding hops. Originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum, it quickly established itself as a piece of living history. Robust, refreshing and still a port of call in any beer-drinker's voyage of discovery.

--> 12,11,12,11,12,11 - 11,

Cask at Lord Nelson, Brighton. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is earth, wood, caramel, dried apricot and sweet red grape. The taste is wood, leather, resin, zesty orange, crisp bitterness and light spice with dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well balanced and pretty quaffable stuff.

Somewhere on the south coast & Manchester Beer Festival 2017. Copper-amber with a small bubbly head. Has a sweet berry aroma but little flavour, however it is smooth in the palate and sessionable.

Cask at the Cleveland Arms, London. Pours clear, bright gold with a foamy, white head. Nose holds some toasty bread, light berries, some twigs. Light to medium sweet flavor with mellow, leafy bitterness, some jammy fruits, modest berries, a bit of bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly sticky sweet finish with some dull berries, toasted sugars, bread, leaves. A pretty classic bitter served well.

Cask at the White Rock Hotel, Hastings. Amber with a thin white head; fresh, hoppy aroma; clean bitter flavour with floral English hops - not what our American cousins would call hoppy - but hoppy nevertheless; the hops become peppery towards the finish, letting the malts come through with a handful of raisins tossed in for good measure. An excellent bitter.
