Bottle. Dark brown with an inch of beige head. Malty, mildly treacly aroma with a little roast and licorice. Not too thin for under 4.5%, lowish carbonation. Roasted flavours are more prominent in than expected and a bit dull really. Bitterness is low and there’s a touch of metal as well as light spices at the end. OK.

Appearance is almost black, opaque, a small fizzy head. Aroma- dark malt, hops, treacle, trace of smoke. Taste- smoky malt, chocolate, fluffy fizzy mouthfeel, hop bitterness, smooth chocolatey finish. Nice.

Bottle at 4.7% ABV. Pours opaque deep brown. Lush frothy beige head. Decent retention. The foam leaves sophisticated pattern laces on glassware. Bread and wort on nose. Also molasses, roasred malts. Light to medium body. Oily palate. Rich malts on flavour. Bready, toasty, minor roastiness. Semidry. Light grassy bitterness on ending. Highly drinkable and well made.

Aroma is nice - roast, malt, bit of coffee and cocoa. Flavor’s fairly balanced between bitter, sweet, tart and similar to nose. Body is a bit thin.
