200 years ago, the congress of Vienna declared Napoleon Bonaparte, deposed 1st Emporer of the French, King of Italy and Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine, an outlaw.
Along with their Allies, the United Kingdom began to mobilise Redcoats under the command of the Duke of Wellington. To commemorate the bicentenary we have mobilised our own Redcoat Rye IPA 5.4%.
Built around a generous rye grist to deliver a distinct spicy and dry maltiness. It is balanced with very grown up woody aromas and resinous hoppy bitterness.
We hope you enjoy this robust red ale, brewed in the same valleys that were responsible for so much of the red woolen cloth lined up in a field near Waterloo on June 18th, 1815.

Cask at Hopbunker Cardiff, June 2017. Pours amber with a beige head. Aroma: red fruits, caramel earthy. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, cereal, rye, fruity, caramel. Light body with light carbonation. Aroma of nettles, hay, malt and moss. Dark mahogany colour, good creamy off-white head. Sweet strange medicinal taste, quite soapy. very light bodied, drinkable stuff, short finish. not bad.

Cask-conditioned at the Victoria, Clifton, Bristol 21/05/09. Reddish bronze in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of red fruits and caramel with a herbal edge. Flavour was sweet, with a cereal, bran flake edge and short, fruity finish. Ok.
