Beast is a full-bodied dark porter. It’s dark mahogany-brown in colour, with a hint of crimson. Rich aromas of toffee, treacle, Mocha coffee, vinous fruit, and chocolate. There’s more complexity on the palate with fruitcake, a hint of rum, more Mocha coffee, herbal hoppiness, vinous fruit, and a bittersweet finish that’s smooth yet complex, rich but not cloying.
Hops: Goldings, Challenger and First Gold. Brewed with a mix of pale ale, chocolate and crystal malts.

50 cL clear bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber to hazzlenut brown with a small tan head. Aroma is mild herbal and roasted malt. Bitter, roasted malt and caramelish. Ends medium dry and bitter.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a dep amber with a dense off-white head leaving laces. A little roast in the nose. Medium body, roasted malt and a little licorice. Some malty bitterness. 100910

Bottle from Beers of Europe. This doesn’t look like a porter, it’s an ordinary English strong ale. Aroma is sour fruits, toasted malts, chocolate. Flavour is toasted malts, fruits, bit of glue. Slightly sour finish. Not too well.

Cask@GBBF09. Deep reddish amber colour with small, but longlasting off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel, ashes and mild raisins. Flavour is sweet malts, some roasted malts, ashes, some dark fruits and mild nutty notes. Pleasant.

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark amber color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dried fruit, fruity, raisin, prune. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20090804]

Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, chocolate and a touch of vineous alcohol. Sweet roasted flavour, mostly chocolate, with a fruity touch.

Cask@GBBF. Deep amber color, small off-white head. Nutty, grassy aroma. Medium-bodied. Sticky glueish-nutty and malty flavor. A bit sweet. Tasty.

Cask-conditioned at the Knights Templar (JDW), Bristol 13/06/09. Dark brown with some hints of red and a slight tan head. Sweet, doughy malt and red fruit aroma. Sweet caramel and fruit flavours, with some roastiness in the background and an earthy hop finish. Good.

Cask, Dee Hotel (JDW), West Kirby. Deep dark brown colour with a medium sized tan head. Roasted malt, raisin and licorice aroma .Quite full bodied and rich sliding down. Flavour fairly malt heavy with a healthy dose of dark fruit and booze. Finished lingeringly sweet. Some definite appeal here.
