This is our brewery’s Heart & Soul.

Created to have all the hoppy goodness of an IPA, but brewed to a sessionable strength. Its intense fruit-salad character comes from generous additions of US West Coast hops. A full bodied and fruity beer, with notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, gooseberry, pineapple & mango.

Can from local Asda. Has an aroma which starts out as fudge and malt but slowly becomes infused with citrus, lemon and mango. Pours a lemon yellow with a small foamy white head and good lacing. I would say the aroma is tropical fruits, but the one I identified first was gooseberry ! Some pineapple and grapefruit too. It’s reasonable but fruity hops are not my thing.

Appearance is golden, with a big white head. Tries to foam out of the can but soon settles. Aroma is pineapple, fruit salad, wheaty caramel malt, pithy fruit, hops. Taste is hop bitterness, fruit salad, tropical fruit, pineapple, hint of mango, grapefruit, bitter finish. Good sessionable IPA.

Can from Asda, BBE in 12 months. Wonderful fruity aroma of passionfruit, grapefruit, mango. It really smells fresh and alive. In that sense the taste is a slight disappointment at first with the fact that the citrus notes are more dulled. It has more of a malty and grain flavour although the citrus is definitely still there. There is a certain smoothness, and moorishness to it which grew on me after a while. The bitterness is moderate but quite long lasting on the palate. Maybe I was expecting it to be more of a typical light bodied session IPA but this offers something different. Very good.
