This porter is our own dedication to the pioneers of beer making, The Women of Mesopotamia (and Sumeria) dating back to 6,000 years ago.
The recipe is designed (very loosely) around the way the Sumerians of Mesopotamia made a fermented beer beverage with grapes and honey and whilst this beer is unfiltered, you probably won’t have to drink it out of a bowl and straw like they did.

Black topped with a lasting khaki head.
Nose is chocolate, roast malts, charr, dried fruit rinds.
Taste comprises dried red berries, earthy roast, charr, cocoa powder.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent porter.

Half-pint, draught, shared with Finn at Brinkburn Street Brewery. Remaining beige head, black in the glass, laces well. Inviting aromas of roasted malts, mid-sweet. Honeyed chocolate malts to the taste profile, some semi-tart spiced fruits to it. Rounded ending, not that well balanced, but quite okay. (Byker - Newcastle upon Tyne, 20.03.2024).

Hand-pulled half-pint at the Brinkburn Street Brewery, Bar and Kitchen on 14th April 2023, part of a rather large 'Flight' of six halves! Dark bodied with a strange mixture of flavours, didn't read any of the 'blurb' about honey and grapes but they play a part in the nose and taste. Wish I'd had time to savour the beer more, but I was on a mission. Interesting and deserves a better review than I've managed!

Bottle shared at work. Pours hazy brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, red wine. Taste has some honey in there too. Clean finish. Interesting.
