Cask at The Saltoun Inn. It pours jet black with a thick, creamy light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted, earthy roast, coffee grounds, charred, ash, dark chocolate, dark fruits and nutty praline. The taste is dry, bitter, toothy, charred, rich roasted malt, coffee, toasty, umami, dark chocolate, powdered chocolate, nutty, touch of praline and a smooth malt base with a toasty finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Lovely condition. Rounded and flavourful.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Another Cambridge purchase - the city was quite good when I was looking out for 300 ticks.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton Got a weak spot for this beer, as it is the one which made me realise how good a porter can be – all those many years ago. Pours completely black with a small cream head and good lacing. Has a nice complex aroma of treacle and dark fruits. In the mouth it has a sweet creamy texture with tastes of toffee and roasted malts. Finish is bitter with some fruitiness. Nice, but not as good as I remember it being.

Pours dark brown, almost perfectly black, topped with medium beige head. Gentle biscuity nose with some chocolate. Gently sweet upfront, quite chocolatey with medium bitterness. Medium full body. Silky. Decent porter. Quite drinkable.

500ml bottle [acquired in a trade with Grumbo - thanks a lot!]. Clear, mahogany colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Dark malty and fruity hoppy aroma, notes of cherry and plum, some chocolate, a roasty touch. Taste is roasty dark malty and bitter, slightly fruity hoppy, some roast bitterness as well as hop bitterness, hints of burnt coffee, burnt caramel, widely disguised hints of plum and cherry; minimally watery passages.

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Old Growler Special Porter". Translucent brown color with reddish highlights. Huge rocky tan head. Mild chocolate malt nose. Roasty, bittersweet malt flavor with hins of treacle and floral hops. Wonderfully satisfying.
