First brewed in 1950, our malty award-winning Moonraker is dedicated to a local legend. The story goes that farmers close to the JW Lees brewery once fell into a pond, attempting to rake out a reflection of the moon they mistook for a truckle of fine Lancashire cheese. This strong ale should be handled with care, but its fruity aroma and rich, sweet flavour are now the stuff of legends too.

Heavy sweet aroma of cherries and red fruit. Thick, oily, syrupy. Overall itโs very sweet and warming.

Bottle from Morrisons. Brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of toffee and caramel malts. Flavour of caramel malts, slightly toasted.

Bottle from Morrisonโs, Banbury 08-11-09 consumed the same day. Pours dark reddy brown with large tan head that swiftly departed. Big bitter sweet bonfire toffee are the first things I notice. This is a big chewy, sweet, malty beer with a little bitter tinge, ok its a touch sweet but overall a good beer to be sipped by a roaring fire. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and straw as well as light notes of fruits.

Bottle (500ml). pours with large fluffy tan head over a murky to muddy chestnut brown body. Minimal lace. Aroma is powerful with toffee, chestnuts, yeasty bread, dark fruits, tobacco and rotten plum. Taste is plums, tobacco, toffee, leather, light cherry twang. Dark fruits and a bit salty with a bitter finish. Bubbles are a bit too sharp for me, medium body.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head.. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel aroma with hints of dark fruit. Roasted malty caramel flavor with some hints of dark fruit. Has a roasted malty caramel finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

50cl bottle cloudy brown/amber, smooth small light brown head. mild, slgihtly hoppy, slightly sweet aroma. comes off very fresh and "english" a bit toffee, a tiny bit dark fruits. delicate aroma. flavor is malty sweet, dry , slighthly flowery, alc well hidden, seems like it tastes best quite cold. ends malty sweet and a bit dry.So english brewers can make a strong and good beer ;-)

Bottled (thanks to the craziest bartender ever). Coppery/amber colour with surprisingly big slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some fruity and grassy hops as well as wooden notes. Slight alcoholic/raisiny sweetness. Flavour is quite much with the same. Caramel malts being the strongest. Aftertaste gets quite bitter. As it gets warmer the alcohol starts showin more.
