Classic Helles—I’m assuming; the brewery’s been around for almost 1,000 years so hard to say they aren’t the benchmark for the style—except it seems a tad sweet, with notes of red apple and vanilla leading to a gentle white bread and floral fade. Canned; my first Weihenstephaner not in a bottle. Woo-hoo.

Bottle drunk after removing old mortar (painted sky blue; very wavy) from around a former basement door frame. The 60s were really the wild west of home improvement in Germany, I tell you! The beer on the other hand is clear gold, not wavy (but also not flat - nice head). Spicy nose with that hint of malty sweetness, which follows through on the tongue. Nice medium thin body with a great balance of crisp bitterness. Very refreshing after chipping off dusty mortar half the afternoon.

Clear golden. Aroma is white bread and floury dough and a few lime notes and some noble hops. Taste is average lager with little sour starchy and doughy notes. Pretty balanced but also nothing special. Ok.
