Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen “Speling van het Lot” (Twist of Fate) is a series of small batch experimental brews, barrel maturations, fruit macerations and/or blends.
This 7th version features a range of fruit macerations on freshly emptied Bordeaux barrels from Château Pabus. These high quality French oak barrels were used for a unique integrated vinification technique, including grape peel maceration in the barrel itself. The name (“Zotte Kadeeën” - “Crazy Kids”) refers to the abundant creativity of our youthful, passionate team, that likes to explore within the traditional lambic boundaries. This plum lambic is the result of a short maceration of plums for one month. It was then blended with young lambic and a final fruit intensity of 340 grams of plums per liter of bottled plum lambic was obtained.

Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head, hazy. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, sorrel, oak, old rope, bark, fruit stones, berry skin, sour berries, sour plums. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish fruity, soda powder, sour berries, oak, sorrel, berry skin, sour plums, mild vinegar, bark, minerals, old rope. Medium bitterness, dry sour-ish fruity mouthfeel. Nice, but it should be aged on plums for much longer than 1 month...

Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is very subtle yellow plums, Gueuze-y, earthy, a bit yoghurty funk. Taste is great yoghurt, earthy funk, very complex Gueuze flavours, yellow plums, well-integrated. More fruity than a Geuze, but it has all the dry flavors. Fluffy mouthfeel with medium to high carbonation. Great!
