Bottle from trade with DanTomlinson, many thanks. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, roasted malt. Taste, dark malt, licorice, chocolate, licorice. Medium bodied, easy drinkable beer.

Bottle. Nose is raisin, chocolate, dark fruit. Taste is milk chocolate, dark fruits, nut, roasted malt, hint of licorice and salt in the finish. Thin. Surprisingly restrained chocolate, decent.

Bottle from the Real Ale Warehouse. Pours brown with a short-lived thin beige head. Aromas of light roast and toffee. Taste is light sweet, no discernable chocolate. Thin finish.

Opaque ruby brown colour, small frothy off-white to beige head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits, caramel, hint of liquorice, vanilla notes. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, milk chocolate, light toffee, dark fruits notes, cold coffee. Medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation, sweetbitter aftertaste, chocolate, light spicy notes, great stuff, good.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20160116) The beer poured black. Its head was small, sparse and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, chocolate, earth and bitterness. Afteraste had chocolate, burnt malts and bitterness. Not bad brew but a bit too harsh. Nice chocolate finish.
