Chelada with the refreshing flavors of mango and chile peppers

Late lunch or early dinner making beer, will let you decide. As Space Lazer said, mango and salt. The faintest hint of chili pepper heat, but very fleeting. The Tamarindo Picante remains top of the table with this series, but Mango y Chile is second.

Why do I even like cheladas, I don't even know. Well I haven't loved all the Modelo versions, I like making my own at home, but whatever. Here's this one. Really ugly appearance, no head, cloudy reddish orange, uneven distribution of opacity. Nose is mostly mango, a little tomato juice. This is a tad sweet, mango flavors dominating, but the saltiness is apparent and balances, with a linger saltiness on the tongue. Very faint chili. Gets a little tart at finish, maybe from the mango, if I could change anything it would be to tame that bit a little. Lingering burning sensation is either acid or chili, unsure, but it hints at vomit. I find the salty beery medium mouthfeel to be quite pleasing. Despite the vomit reference I'm rather enjoying this one. Why do I like this I still can't say.

Mango, salt, chile pepper, malt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate but short-lasting head. Moderately sweet mango, chile pepper, malt, light salt, and lightly bitter straw flavor. Good body - light burn in the finish. Pretty good - would drink this before a Rita any day of the week.

24 oz. Aroma is mango, black pepper, tomato, floral. Pours hazy orange with a quickly collapsing off-white head--no trace of foam whatsoever after a minute or so. Taste is moderately tart, lightly sweet, with a light chili pepper spiciness. Lots of mango flavor. Tastes pretty good to me, but I love cheladas. It's not as good as the original or the lime one, though.
