Wie es unsere Ur-Väter schon getrunken haben! Unser Holzar ist ein dunkles Export das neben einer abgerundeten Bittere durch die angenehmen Röstaromen der verwendeten dunklen Malze besticht.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Dark reddish brown with a tall, fine, white head. Not very cloudy. Munich malt nose, caramel, raisin. Sweet caramel flavor, dried fruits, prunes, bready, chocolate, earthy finish, sligtly burnt. Drinkable but not so interesting.

500 ml swing-top bottle kindly provided to Beer Session XIX in Tromsø 220312 by Jan Erik. Medium-sized off-white head that lasts a while. Deep brown body. Quite weak, insignificant and somewhat sour malty aroma and taste with hints of caramel. Watered and rather strongly carbonated palate, though not too bad. When seen in context with other ratings of this beer it proved disappointing.

Some german friends brought this over. Poured at room temp into a tulip.
A - No head and the beer had a very caramel appearance. Almost completely see-thru but not quite.
S - Dry malts, corn and toffee
T - Dry roasted nuts, butter, rice and corn. Very earthy in the tastes like a dry dressing free salad.
M - 90% bubbles on a mouth swish. Dry linger with a lot of bock characters
O - It’s a good solid bock beer. Solid 3.5.

A little bit of nuttiness. Some light bitter hops. THis is the first of this category I’ve had, - it reminds me a little of a pale ale, though not as bitter. Colour is dark amber. 500ml bottle

A dirty clear brown dunkel with a thick lacing moka head. In aroma, a sweet caramel with notes of honey, lightly oxidized. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with light oily mouthfeel, faint and boring. BB 30-05-11.

Purchased at the LCBO in a 3-pack of different beers from Hoss for Christmas 2010. Best before date on back label says 30.05.11. Swing-top brown bottle and served in one of their tall round-cylinder glass mug. Pours a clean amber colour with medium bubbles around the glass and light carbonation. Big off-white head that creamy-soapy with great retention and dirty lace. Aromas of darker malts, caramel, fruits (raisins, plums), bread and hints of nuts. Wet oily mouthfeel. The taste is surprisingly mild compared to its smell. Toffee and soda water. Too bad the flavours could not follow the aromas.
