'Best Of British' is quintessentially British. Brewed using three blends of malted barley and wheat to provide a full bodied, rich copper coloured, nutty and biscuity session bitter. Two whole leaf hop varieties are used to provide a good bitter-sweet balance and a subtle fruity aroma, giving way to a lingering chocolate malty finish.

Bottle from Longacres, Wokingham. Opaque chestnut brown. Thick foamy off-white head. Aroma has tangy berries, dark grains and a sweet edge. Flavourwise it got some woody bitterness with tart berries over a soft sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Interesting enough twiggy stuff.

Gravity dispense at the Prince of Wales BF, Farnborough, 16/10/21. Deep copper pour with a good sized beige covering. Nose is dried fruits, biscuit, caramel, raisins. Taste comprises fruit slice, brown bread, biscuit, toffee, dates. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Decent bitter.

500ml bottle from an Eton deli. Poured a murky copper colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, big yeast, light woody hop. The flavour is light bitter and sour, with a yeasty, medicinal, mineral light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Best before June 2021. Stored upright for a week before placing in the fridge for 30 minutes prior to serving. Carefully poured, yet this beer was truly awful. Terrible in fact. Best of British? I don't think so.

Cask at the 28th Ealing Beer Festival. Pours cloudy amber brown with a lasting creamy/frothy off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, biscuit, water chestnut and blackcurrant. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Finish is sweeter and rather dry with blackcurrant lingering.

Cask at the Tally Ho, Eversley. A deep golden amber pour with a loose cream head; simple malty aroma; rich caramel malt taste, nicely balanced by some English hops. A straightforward, tradition, but satisfying bitter. An excellent first attempt from this new brewery.
