A classic hop-forward Northwest IPA. A clean malt profile sets up an assertive citrus, pine and floral hop bouquet, balanced with notes of lemon, pear and apricot

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy copper amber with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Aroma of caramel malt, orange zest, apricot and floral hops. Sweet flavour of biscuity pale malt, grapefruit, pear and pine resin in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. A solid Old Skool Wastie.

Orange marmalade with some grapefruit. Pine. Dark copper pour with pretty good head and lacing. Bitter end. Decent NW IPA. Can.

On the nose is chewy sweet hops with some strong caramel. Has okay copper body with modest foam. Flavour is candyish hops, some soft apricot notes, orange zest. Mouthfeel is full with good oiliness. This still seems a bit rough around the edges but has nice things going on.

On tap at Backroads, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Nose has a lot of crystal malt, with some astringent hoppy bitterness, a little pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is likewise quite bitter, with an astringent piney hop character and crisp biscuity malt. Piney and bitter finish. Solid.

I had to laugh when I overhead someone saying "I can't believe they'd admit to brewing Northwest IPA." Hazy, dull amber, not much head. Chewy pine and orange hops. Good for the style but I’m unaccustomed to the chewiness!
