Strong blond winterbeer that matured for 8 months on different stonefruits. Tsjeeses was born out of a 5 year brewing experience regarding x-mas beer without being capable of finding a suitable name all that time. With the name came a face, a caricature actually, that was drawn on the day Urbain, our brewing slave, drank too many Tsjeeses’s. Every time he drinks one, he says "Tsjeeses, what a beer". Therefore the name is more an expression of stupefaction than a curse.
We have had already many discussions around the pronounciation of "Tsjeeses". Very close would be that you say "cheeses" or cheese in plural.

2013. Nose is brown sugar, cloves, orange and lactose, a little underwhelming by the high standard of the brewer. Taste brown sugar, spice, leading to malt, cream, plums, a touch of strawberry, then orange, lots of orange, a little coco, caramel then back to spice in the finish. Complex. Mouthfeel is slick. This is a really nice beer, that is suitably spiced for xmas. It pales compared to the magnificent port aged 2011, but is still very, very good. Bottle 2015: As above, but seeming to be a little thin and lacking the complexity and finish of the 2013. Typical of a disappointing year for Struise.

Re-rate, another bottle from Appellation Wines. Much more banana and apricot going in this time, richer finish too. Nice. 330ml bottle from Appellation Wines - cheers Ash! Pours cloudy amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma has yeasty goodness and dried orange. Taste brings more oranges and cream. Medium bodied, creamy texture, a bit thin for the strength I thought.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy caramel with a lovely creamy head. Nose - bread and butter pudding, strangely. Dry fruit but not overblown - dried orange. Taste - oranges and a hint of cream in the background. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy/creamy texture and a fairly balanced finish. Overall - good beer, alcohol quite hidden!

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a dark amber/orange color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of caramel, some dark fruits, sweet malts and yeasty notes. Light spices and a nice mellowed alcohol character make this a pretty easy drink. I liked it.

Hazy dark amber, white head leaves a nice bubbly island. Very fruity, raisins, fresh prunes, touch of peach. Light toffee, apples, Belgian yeast, some malts too but they are quite light. Taste is sweet with medium strong bitter aftertaste. Very, very good beer. I like the reserva a little more, but this is already quite amazing.

[10/4/13] Bottle shared at a tasting at chriso’s place. Thanks harrisoni for this bottle! 2013 bottle. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Fruity and spicy aroma, a bit alcoholic, quite pleasant. Sweetish flavor, fruity, yeasty, spicy, with an alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.
