Bottle from The Hillside Brewery Shop, Longhope, Gloucestershire. Pours a hazy deep copper colour with a large thick creamy off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toasty bread and nuts. Taste has more of the same notes with an earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body with a very smooth mouthfeel. Nice

28/9/2018. Bottle from the St.Albans Beer & Cider Festival 2018. Pours clear dark amber with an average sized off-white head, a really good looking beer. Aroma of hops, malt, caramel, citrus and darker fruits. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, above average carbonation. Dry, earthy, fruity finish. Apart from being too carbonated, this was good.

Cask-conditioned at the Pelican, Gloucester, 19/2/2016. Deep amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Heavy, fruitcake malts, caramel, some citrus hops leading to a short, bitter, finish. Ok.

Bottle from Saucy Pears. Appearance - bright amber/copper with red chinks. Nice fluffy head. Nose - dried orange and cake. Soapy too. Taste - tangy orange zing, soap again. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet zingy texture and a dry zingy finish that is a bit based on wild yeast again. Overall - not in perfect nick. I’d say.

Pig’s Ear. Cloudy amber beer, suddy off white head. Light dry palate. Low carbonation. Lacto malt with a little tang and sourness. Grapefruit marmalade, tangy orange. Very dry finish - well overdone. An interesting beer with the contrast of lacto malt and sourness but the palate is way too dry.
