After a particularly boisterous day at the races in 1837, legendary rabble rouser the Marquess of Waterford and his party descended on our market town and literally painted the town red. Inspired by that notorious spree through Melton, this delicious West Coast IPA is a riot of hoppy goodness and character, crafted to quench your thirst and quicken the spirit.

1/3 pint, draught at Mother Kelly's N17. Covering pearl white head, close-to-clear golden body, dotted spots on the glass. Grassy hops and grapefruit moments in aromas, promising. Quite prominent taste of grapefruit and green hops supported by semi-sweet malts beneath. Drying close with a distant bitter touch. Like it. (Tottenham Hale,, London 15.03.2024).

Keg at Trekkers, Chesham, Bucks. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, pine, some tropical fruit taste and aroma. Loved the aroma on this but the taste didn't quite match it, pleasant enough IPA.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - deep golden with slightly off-white lacing. Nose - dried sultana and brown bread. But light dishcloth note is spoiling it somewhat. Taste - a bit of soapy dishcloth then lemon and brown bread. Palate - light to medium bodied. Tangy middle and dry, almost astringent finish. Overall - a wee bit ropey truth said.

Can on 2nd December 2020; received as gift in Beer52 Advent Calendar: Day 2. Pours coppery amber with shallow off-white foam and scant lacing. Rich and intense tropical fruits on caramel malt in aroma. Burst of juicy tropical fruits and zesty citruses in-mouth on biscuit malt. Orange and grapefruit peel dominate the finish. Full bodied with an engaging texture. Superb.
