Batch 5. Beginning of 2017, we acquired a second set of 21 Oloroso and 7 PX barrels and aged young lambic on them for another year. We lost 4 barrels along the way and we blended 12 barrels for this blend and 12 barrels for batch 6 (blend 50). Average age of over 2,5 years upon release, no backblending. 100% 3 Fonteinen lambic.

This natural millésime beer is a blend of young traditional lambics that have aged on forty-year old authentic Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Zenne y Frontera is the perfect symbiosis of a few stubborn characters, a lot of wild ideas, a vast palette of aromas and two beautiful regions.

0,75l bottle at home shared by me. Yellow lightly hazy color, small white head. Smells sherry, funky, peppery, nutty, wood. Lovely smell. Full body, no carbonation. Tastes funky, citric, peppery, subtle sherry, nutty. Finishes dry and light to medium sour with notes of 3f Funk, sherry and nutty notes. very nice one, great balance, lovely funky notes

Very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation. tastes funky, cheesy, oak, citric, salty, subtle sherry. finishes dry and light to medium sour with notes of salt, oak and nutty notes. Lovely, great balance

All batches same colour, save for Solera (Batch 2): No head, peachy-orange veiled beer. Softer nose, with a mineral streak. Sour fruit, hints at straw. Sharp lactic acidity, unripe fruit, and something chalk-y, referring to the mineral waft. Sharp, acidburn, not much visible carbonation.

ABV: 7.1%. Cloudy - hazy medium to light orange - amber yellow colour with a small, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is moderate barnyard, leather, tart, funk, green apples, port - sherry, wood, oak, light earthy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration, tart, barnyard, leather, funky, wood, oak sherry - port barrel, berries - ripe fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20190926]

Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, tart, sherry, barnyard, leather, fruity, berries - ripe fruit. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light acidic with a long duration, tart, berries, dry, oak, wood, sherry, vinous - grapes, funky, barnyard. 75cl bottle @ Tilquin admin gathering, merci Pierre. Vertical with Blend # 20, 21, 49 & 50.
Dorée sur un léger voile trouble, col fin blanc.
Arôme au nez fin de Sherry, caramélisé léger en retrait qui se mêle facilement au bouquet de la barrique - ce dernier est finement funk, boisé, citrique qui revient en rétro.
Palais est funk, lambic, léger grains, petite touche plaisant de grillé-caramélisé sucre cuit de Sherry-Oloroso.
Citrique reste tout de même latent.

750ml bottle @ Pien, Helsinki. Sweetish, heavy with sherry oaky notes, vinous grapes, funky yeastiness, farmyard, leather and wood. Quite intense with the sherry notes still after almost a year of aging. Still awesomely balanced and complex. Previous rating: Batch 5: More fresh barrel notes, sherry, oak, earthy notes and funky yeastiness than in batches 3 and 4. Complex.
