Anchor Saison is a traditional Belgian-style saison with a California twist. The distinctiveness of roasted Belgian wheat malt is enhanced by the peppery, clove-like flavors of a locally cultured saison-style yeast. And, for this release, we chose three California ingredients—lemongrass, lemon peel, and ginger—whose synergy adds a tangy crispness and herbal spiciness to this sharply refreshing, uniquely Californian saison.

0,1l from at Craft Bier Fest Wien, shared by Saeglopur, thanks. orange hazy color, small white head. smells of spices, light grass, a bit medical. has a quite unclean smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes rather strong of spices, alcohol, pepper, some herbs, astringent. finishes witth pepper and spices. both taste and smell are rather unclean, not sure where the saison comes into play here. not a fan.

Draught at CBF Wien.
Copper, hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of green apples, citrus, dried fruits, spices.
Tastes of pepper, apples, citrus, bread, yeast.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes peppery, a bit hot, bready, yeasty.

Good. Quite unique Saison, with a lot of peppery notes. Not very complex, quite simple, but well balanced. Overall not among my favourite Anchor beers.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy vibrant golden color with an enormous fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet orange, honey, black pepper and a herbal presence. The flavor was dryish, musty, herbal, citric. bready and rather medicinal. Long musty and medicinal finish. Medium body. Meh.

Nice pour from these bottles. Good strong initial blast on the palate. Crisp with a kick. Pretty good sizzle on this one. Stronger, alky thing starts to kick in. Tight twist. Gets quite relaxing near the end of the bottle. Yes, quite an experience.
