Is a multi-award winning, champion beer and a fitting tribute to Finn a character famed for his hospitality and brought to life in the story of Beowulf. Our porter is as it should be:~ inviting, dark and smoky, hoppy and not too sweet. The kind of ale that invites one to linger.

Deep dark brown with a ruby tinge, a frothy tan head and a chocolate and coffee malt aroma. Fresh and bright with coffee notes, roasted malt and a dry bitter finish.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford – though I have drunk it before some time ago. Pours a very dark reddish – brown with a small beige head. The aroma is a heady concoction of smoke, liquorice and chocolate. In the mouth it has a sweet and creamy texture, with piles of liquorice in the flavour. There’s roasted malts and hitns of ash and herbs too. Finish is smoky and slightly bitter. This is awesome !

Half-pint, cask at Blue Boar in Leicester. A Finn beer shared with Finn! Black in the glass, low fawn coloured head, clingy lacing. Black malty nose, dry. Taste of oak, liquorice and a backdrop of smoked malts. Quite alright, easy to drink. (10.02.2019).

Handpull cask from the Blue Boar, Leicester. Purplish black and opaque with a khaki head. Liquorice dominates the aroma, although there's a touch of burnt oak and heavy malt. The taste is more balanced than I'd feared, with some medicinal acidity in the finish. Herbal bitterness in the aftertaste with a suggestion of molasses. Complex and moreish. Too much liquorice for me but otherwise it's a fine, fine porter.
