Postman's Knock is a beer offering an intelligent blend of complex ingredients, the rich brown beer with a smooth fine head has a very chocolately character. The combination of subtle flavour notes of vanilla, treacle and roast malt gives an initial rich sweetness leading to a velvety chocolate finish.
The beer is named in honour of Simon Evans (1895-1940), a novelist and short story writer, who settled in Cleobury Mortimer after World War One. He had been badly affected by poison gas in the war and, in order to improve his health, worked as a postman, walking up to 18 miles a day. Postman's Knock is based on the Champion Mild recipe and uses the finest malting barley, Maris Otter and Worcestershire Fuggles and Goldings hops.
Bottle Notes - Postman's Knock is a bottle conditioned beer which contains sediment, pour carefully and best stored upright at cellar temperature 10 - 12 degrees.

500 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany brown color with a small creamy beige head. Faint cocoa malt nose. Flavor upfront is bittersweet cocoa and roasted malt. Light bodied for a Porter. Notes of currants and floral hops in midtaste. Finishes with more chocolate and bitter hops.

50cl bottle pours a watery brown with some slim, off white head. Nose has some brown sugar, but mostly root beer, some malt, a little faint licorice. Flavor has the same, bland licorice, brown sugar, some cream soda, root beer, mild yeast. Watery finish. No thanks.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber with some sort of head. Nose - toffee apple. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly balanced finish. Overall - solid, I’d say.

Pours clear reddish dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and chocolate. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long licorice and slightly chocolate finish. Body is light, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Pours clear maroon with an airy head. Aroma is burned malts with a touch of smoke, oak and anise. Medium body with almost no carbonation. Flavour is burned malts with kandi and rather strange herby metallic notes.
