Postman's Knock is a beer offering an intelligent blend of complex ingredients, the rich brown beer with a smooth fine head has a very chocolately character. The combination of subtle flavour notes of vanilla, treacle and roast malt gives an initial rich sweetness leading to a velvety chocolate finish.
The beer is named in honour of Simon Evans (1895-1940), a novelist and short story writer, who settled in Cleobury Mortimer after World War One. He had been badly affected by poison gas in the war and, in order to improve his health, worked as a postman, walking up to 18 miles a day. Postman's Knock is based on the Champion Mild recipe and uses the finest malting barley, Maris Otter and Worcestershire Fuggles and Goldings hops.
Bottle Notes - Postman's Knock is a bottle conditioned beer which contains sediment, pour carefully and best stored upright at cellar temperature 10 - 12 degrees.

Bottle, at Cardinal. Itโs a clear, brown beer with a medium sized dense, beige head. Roasted malts, nuts and some dried fruits in the aroma. The flavor too is quite roasted, with nuts, dried fruits and a decent bitterness. Medium body, dry on the palate, and with a lasting roasted finish. A typical British porter, and itโsquite nice and pleasant. 131019

500 ml bottle at Cardinal. Clear, deep red amber body with a fast disappearing off-white head. Nice, not very strong aroma of dark malt, slightly roasted and a hint of coffee. Flavor is dark malt, light roast, some dark chocolate and coffee with moderate bitterness. Medium body and smooth in aftertaste. A nice and pleasant beer with a smooth, rish flavor at only 4,8 ABV.

Bottle from Co-Op in Oakham, Rutland. Poured a deep amber with a thin tan head. Light aroma of some dark fruit and little molasses. Disappointingly watery mouth feel. Initial flavours of prunes and dates with a bit of hop bitterness and dark malts on the palate.

Doskonaly Porter. Tradycja powstawania tego piwa w tym browarze mi imponuje. Piwo jest glebokie troche ciezkie, palony slod, troche wloskiego prazonego orzecha, zdziebko laski wanilli oraz odrobinka osadu na dnie. Elegandzka etykieta moze takze przyciagac. Finisz mocno wytrawny. Swietna krzepka uczta. Polecam.
