Terf (Dutch dialect word meaning "tarwe" = wheat) is a beer that we brewed to support a group of young peasants from the neighboring region of Pajottenland. They strive towards a type of agriculture that respects both the land and the people. They accept to take risks and they fight to give the right credit to ancient cereals, wheat in particular. Some of them work with organic cultures, all of them follow farming methods that respect the environment as much as possible. The sale price of their cereals allows for a fair pay to the farmer. We decided to support their cause by brewing a beer that is sold within their network and values their products. The coordination of the project has been assured by our friends from 3 Fonteinen brewery in Lot.
Terf is a wheat beer, blonde and hazy, 5% abv. Fresh cereal flavors prevail, wheat dominates with flavors of farmhouse bread. Herbal notes add freshness, while a slightly phenolic touch adds character. Its final is dry and bitter, but not excessively, and a floral touch completes the ensemble.
A simple, true beer, perfect to end the summer on a high note!

Wheat ale made for an association of Pajottenland farmers, brewed by de la Senne; had this one at Lambik-O-Droom, as 3 Fonteinen too uses wheat grown by said association. Creamy, snow white, thick and stable, membrane-lacing head on a hazy yellow blonde beer. Aroma of white bread, dried chamomile, sweetclover, grass, lemonbalm, moist white pepper, unripe banana, unsugared bubblegum, plaster, white soap. Crisp, dryish onset, unripe banana and green pear notes, sharp and spritzy carbonation piercing through a rounded white-bready maltiness with cereally and wheaty edge, only dimly sourish and instead of further developing that wheat tartness, making a U-turn in the direction of bitter, ending with a very long, rooty, leafy, quinine-like hop bitterness which also pushes upwards flowery aromas of chamomile and clover blossom. Senne's house style is obvious enough here - not a witbier, but a hoppy, clean wheat ale in a more general sense. Enjoyable and technically very solid (in spite of the first batch having failed, if what I heard is true).

Panda 🐼 at home thanks to Colin. A hazed dull golden orange coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is white grape, soft wheaty grains, light apicy apple, cinnamon, saison. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, spicy wheat, apple, white grape, melon, little custard. Palate is semi sweet, spicy grains, moderate carbonation. Bit weird.

Bottle at home, thanks to Scopey from our dupes swap, 05/03/21. Pale golden yellow with a mahoosive white cap of thinly knit bubbles ... a bastard to pour ... way overcarbed it seems! Nose is herb, hedgerow, light spice, citric tinged straw, lemon rind. Taste comprises grass. white peppery spice, lemon zest, toasted grains, hay bale, Belgian yeast esters. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, light dryness in the close. A pleasant enough Belgian leaning affair ... carbonation levels let down the overall drinking experience for this one though.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bottled 31 July 20. Gusher. Straw colored, hazy body, with a massive, frothy, rocky, white head. Aroma of wheat, grains, dough, lemongrass, citrus, flowers, apricot, some spices. Tastes quite similar, with even more wheat notes. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes smooth, moderate spicy, yeasty, a bit sweet, a bit dry, citric, hoppy, with wheat, stone fruits. Very nice. Smooth and perfectly balanced, with a lovely mix of yeasty, malty, fruity and spicy notes, with the wheat quite prominent. Extremely quaffable, refreshing stuff! Score: 7 / 4 / 7 / 4 / 16

Hazy golden with a huge white head. De La Senne house aroma with herbal, spicy, fruity and mineral notes. Sweetish malty flavour with more white bread and more bubblegum than the usual Senne. Medium full body and refreshing bitter finish.

Bottle. Hazy straw color with fluffy white head. Aroma is grainy, wheat, lemony, barnyard. Taste is wheat, grainy, earthy, lemony, barn, cereals. Foamy mouthfeel with high carbonation. Not amazing, I have to say, quite earthy and rough.
