This Zenne y Frontera is a blend of two fine Oloroso barrels. This is a straight barrel-to-bottle lambic without the addition of any other lambic nor with the aim to let this continue to ferment. If it’s flat, it’s normal. If not, some magic happened meanwhile. 100% 3 Fonteinen. Only 614 bottles produced (minus the ones we tasted ourselves).

Low carb but plenty of fun flavors. More tart and sour than expected but spun into the tons of sherry notes wrapped in geuze funk.
Hapu, šerri, funky, puuviljane, täidlane, happeline ka, vaati ka. Hea. 4.1

Pours darker yellow. Full on oloroso scent. Taste is full, intense oloroso, citrussy, funky. Amazing fusion. Perhaps lacking complexity in comparance to B1 and 2 , but certainly amongst the best of the series.

One of a series of new Zenne y Frontera blends, this one a blend of lambic that was aged on Oloroso barrels; I added it here the way it is presented by the brewery, but I guess the admins will have to find out which of the new Zennes need to be aliased into the same variant and which not. I took notes of all the variants I tasted at Lambik-O-Droom yesterday just to be on the safe side... This one produced a mousy, egg-white but quickly opening head (so this bottle at least was not flat like the brewery announces), over a misty deep pale orangey peach blonde robe. Strong and fascinating aroma of old dusty wooden boards, oloroso indeed, dried lemon peel, stale sweat, dried plums, grape skin, old jute bags, dry haystacks. Tart onset but very refreshingly so, minerally carbonation (soft but clearly there so again, this bottle has apparently developed carbon dioxide more than the brewery expected), lots of estery unripe plum and sour grape notes, vinous body; lovely bread-crusty, haystack-like core, strong woody tannins with drying-astringent but very quenching effect, lemony edges and Brett funkiness completing the picture along with a late 'old hop' bitter accent. The oloroso adds dryness, complexity and vinosity, with a very particular aroma that is hard to describe, but remains altogether more of a background feature in comparison with some other Zenne y Frontera editions. Nevertheless another superb 3 F lambic by all standards.
