Another relative rarity in the real ale world ~ a clear wheat beer. This is a brilliantly astringent beer as a true wheat beer should be and in pulls off a real "double whammie" having a powerful continental bitterness as well.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is weak malt, leading to a medium bitter, grassy, hoppy flavour with some smooth malt on the palate. The bitterness quickly disappears. A refreshing ale, but Beowulf can do much better.

500ml Brown bottle conditioned UK brewed wheat beer poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass on 13 Apr 2012. The beer has a slight haze to its otherwise pale golden body. The head was thin and white in colour, getting thinner with every sip. Citrus hop aroma and taste: not a lot else really. Refreshing but somewhat lacking in depth and deep flavours.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Lightly citrusy nose. Medium body, sweet fruits yet with an astringent grapefruitish touch. Dry finish. Fresh alright. 190110
