Next up in the FBC craft queue, is the launch of Fernie Brewing Co.’s new IPA Series. Four distinctive and different IPA’s releasing over the next year in 650ml bottles, the first one being Rockpile Red IPA. “Our strongest and hoppiest ale offering yet, at 7.2% alc./vol. and 75 IBU,” describes Murray Pask, FBC’s Big Cheese. “We selected Admiral, Ahtanum and Chinook Hops for their fine characteristics, with the use of Caramel and Crystal Malts bringing about the Malt balance in Rockpile Red IPA. Truly a profusion of flavour to entice your taste buds. It’s not for the faint of heart, but definitely a beer for your bucket list!” - See more at: http://fernie.com/blog/2013/10/fernie-brewing-kicks-off-craft-beer-month/#sthash.N65rPY5J.dpuf

Amber-brown, thin head. Aroma is light toasty. Palate is toasty, light hop, light caramel. Thin body but dry, woody hop finish. Ok, like a hoppy amber. Phenols in the finish, too bad

650mL bottle, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out caramel malt and resinous hops. Flavour brings out a good balance of caramel malts and resinous hops, finishing dry and bready. Decent drinking, but not a whole lot of complexity or drinkability Not bad.

Bottle from Boundary Crossing Liquor Store, Vancouver
Dark amber color with medium sized head. The aroma offers nice biscuity malts, some cereals too. Good body strength, lean mouthfeel; it has a nice malt flavor, caramel, and an evident biscuity side; light residual sweetness, good bitterness level.
Balanced, clean, very good.

Bottle - Caramel malts and resin. Clear amber with a decent beige head. Bitter resin and malt with a long bitter finish. As it warms gets a bit grainy.
