Bottle @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma oro medio-leggera. Al naso note di caffé, cioccolato fondente, burro d'arachidi, leggera liquirizia. In bocca è corposa, cioccolatosa dolce all'attacco, con chiusura amara a bilanciare, caffettosa. Corpo pieno, carbonazione media. Niente male.

Collaboration of two somewhat lesser known Swedish craft breweries, a (very) strong milk stout flavoured with macadamia nuts and hazelnuts. Initially thick and creamy, brownish mocha-beige, stable but eventually breaking head on a black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of espresso, melting 'fondant' chocolate, mocha ice cream, ground hazelnuts indeed and I assume macadamia nuts having a comparable aroma in this context, milk powder, latté machiato, a whiff of vanilla even if this is apparently not used, cocoa powder, cognac, amaretto even, shoe polish. Sweet, dense, creamy onset, fig syrup and candied dates with a touch of cooked pear somewhere, clear hazelnut (and macadamia nut) aspect from the start, soft carb, viscous and oily yet smoothly 'drinkable' mouthfeel; toffeeish, black-chocolatey and caramelly layers of sweet malts with only a mild bitter-coffeeish edge towards the end, creamy and sweetened by the lactose, 'hazelnuttiness' penetrating deep into the beer's core; very light and virtually negligible hop bitter touch blending in with the roasty bitter aspect, very coffee-like, even though the toffee and chocolate effects remain dominant and get the last word, gently warmed by cognac-like alcohol. Delivers what it promises in a flawless way so that automatically deserves a high score in my book; well-made, full and opulent, but still lean and drinkable enough compared with many other pastry stouts - not too 'pastry', in other words, which is definitely a plus for me.
