Bottle. Pours clear amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel and fruity notes and a touch of hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of roast, grass and citrus and a subtle touch of caramel. Bitter aftertaste. A very nice, deliberately unbalanced experiment. A good thing.

OK, another IPA. From a bottle into a big clear mug. Looks smells like many other IPA. Thin small bubbles foamy head. On IPA- its imperial, yes, mouth cloying rude bullshit, terribly on style for a double eye-pah. Now the aroma gets a bit volatile, showing its hi abv alkiness. Of the rudest. Long btter nasty linger wonβt let me taste anything for an hour. taste your food before you sip this. smack you in the face kik you in the mouth

355 ml. bottle poured in to a tulip. Slightly hazy, deep copper-orange with a creamy, off-white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, resin, grass and pines. Quite hoppy. Caramel malts, toasted. Taste is bitter. Medium body, average carbonation. Finishes bitter and dry with lots of hops and toasted malts. Good US-style IPA. Excellent considering the price tag.

Poured from 12oz bottle (best by 8/31/06) an amber gold with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving a fine layer with some lacing.
The smell is on the delicate side...notes of citrus from the hops and some spiciness.
The taste is a strong citrus bitter up front but then, a good malt sweetness(caramel) moves in and balances the taste nicely. The finish goes back to and actually intensifies in the bitterness and spiciness department. Hmm....I'm liking this new IPA from this very solid brewery!
Bottom line: Another solid offering from Deschutes that I hope makes its way to Casper for further "testing". :^)
